Well, I got a chance to try out the Bump app at this chamber meeting.  Let’s just say that people were very interested when I asked if they wanted to bump when they asked me for my business card.  It was fun.

Things I liked:

• Very easy
• I don’t have to type in the information
• Doesn’t take long to do
• It automatically puts the information into my contacts
• It’s a great conversation piece

Things that could use improvement:

• Not a lot of people have the app yet so it takes a little longer to exchange information because they have to download the app; but that will fix itself as more people get familiar with it
• The contact information doesn’t always transfer into the correct fields

Right now the pros out weigh the cons so why not give streamlining contact information exchange a try?

I’m pretty impatient when it comes to certain things.  That’s just the way I am.  So, when some new business person wants to exchange contact information what do I do?  I say, “Just call me or send me an email.”  That way, I don’t have to type anything in and I don’t have to worry about getting it incorrect.  And did I mention I’m impatient? I hate the way that people talk when they’re giving out their information… “h as in ham, e as in Esther…” blah blah blah. 

So what’s my favorite new app?  Bump from Bump Technologies, Inc.  You simply bump your phones together and (ta-da!) your contact information is exchanged.  It’s amazing! And the best part, it’s supposed to work cross-platform between Android, iPhone, iPad and iPod! It’s not just contact information either, you can exchange photos and apps too.

So here’s the disclaimer part, I haven’t ACTUALLY tried it yet.  I just got the app yesterday and I haven’t run into anyone new yet.  But, as soon as I do, I’ll let you know how exciting it is to Bump!
